Shear arrived well packaged, though the index tape was bent, crooked, cheap and clearly useless. The shear itself seems to work quite well. It left a clean cut on the Solarplate that I tested it with. I made a quick trip to Home Depot and purchased an $8 framing square and cut the short end off. There are three holes underneath where the index tape was glued on and I used those attach my new index guide (making sure to keep it square to the blade. BTW, the directions are basically useless beyond letting you know the blade has a coating that needs to be removed and then oiled before use.

I bought this cutter because cutting copper with shears hurts my arthritic fingers too much. The unit is a bit wobbly in the handle and blade adjustment, though easy enough to remedy with some shims. Must definitely be anchored to a solid surface, though I had to detach the blade section to access bolt holes for mounting. I've not bee able to get the blade adjusted perfectly since then. All-in-all, it is helpful for cutting and trimming thicker copper and brass sheet.
