Great size for my flat back canoe.

I used this motor as main propulsion on a Intex Excursion 5 raft. The trolling motor It worked really well, I ran it about 12 hours total with zero issues. 55 pound thrust for 170 bucks I feel is a good deal. The propulsion was very strong, It also runs a very long time if you use speed 3, Speed 5 was powerful. I was surprised how long the battery life was with this motor. I used a Everstart Maxx 29DC . The White plastic casing that houses the electronics is a little flimsy, The Pivot pin used to tilt the motor isn't designed very well, it's kind of difficult to tilt the motor up and down. It does work fine though. I rated this a 4 because of the price, could not find another 55 pound thrust motor for anywhere close to $ 170 bucks.

I bought this 55lbs thrust trolling motor for my 14ft Sportpal Transom canoe. The five speeds are nice and it has lots of power for my application; one complaint is the built in battery meter is not terribly accurate. It changes with the speed setting but does give a estimate of the remaining battery life. The three reverse speeds are useful. Wish I had used them on a few occasions in rocky, shallow currents. But the prop is no worse for wear and withstood some unintended abuse. Overall build quality seems solid; hopefully it will work well for years to come. It is light, easy to carry and very quiet. I am using a LiFePo4 50ah battery; nice consistent power and if you don't keep it in fourth/fifth speed too long it can last several hours.
