While one could sharpen these up and get right to work with them, I knew what I was getting into when I purchased the 12-piece set. I really dislike the handles. Thankfully, I'm a woodworker.... Handles aren't a big deal. I will be fitting these with new, more comfortable handles, and including steel strike ferrules on the back ends so they can be properly used with a mallet. Aside from polishing each tools steel portions, they all require a bit of set up (flattening, bevel geometry adjustments, easing of sharp edges along flats/lands) before use. Putting a bit of effort into your tools is highly rewarding and will ensure that they are capable of the jobs they are used for. Can't wait to make this set into something that I'll reach for on every project!

I recently purchased this wood lathe chisel set, and I'm quite impressed with its overall quality and performance. As someone who's still learning the ropes of woodturning, I found this set to be an excellent choice for both beginners and those with some experience. The set includes a nice variety of chisels, allowing for versatility in woodturning projects. The handles are comfortable to hold, providing a good grip and control during use. The steel quality is sturdy enough to handle various wood types without bending or chipping, which speaks to its durability. One thing to note is that the chisels did require sharpening before the first use, but that's quite common with new sets. Once sharpened, they performed beautifully and made my projects much smoother and more enjoyable. Overall, I would highly recommend this wood lathe chisel set for beginners and semi-pro woodturners. It's a solid investment that should last a long time with proper care. If you're willing to put in a bit of initial effort to sharpen them, you'll find these chisels to be reliable tools in your woodworking journey.
